Every horse deserves to feel comfortable in their body. As a qualified Equine bodyworker and massage therapist, I use a combination of hands-on techniques to release tension, reduce pain and discomfort, improve mobility and support overall well being.
Most horses benefit from regular massage sessions. Equine massage is a hands on therapy which can often identify tension or discomfort in the horse before it becomes noticeable to the rider - allowing treatment before it escalates into pain, injury, or changes in personality and behaviour.
Therapy sessions also include stretches and rehabiliation exercises where needed and when appropriate. I focus on "chains of muscles" not just individual muscles doing a job, looking at the whole horse. Sessions are very peaceful and relaxing and even horses who initially show tension, wariness or pain soon learn to trust, release and enjoy the process.
At Whispers Horsemanship I have developed a disctinctive style of bodywork massage therapy, drawing on a variety of techniques - from the lightest touch to deeper releases - trigger points, NMT, fascia and deep tissue massage, freeing blockages and soothing referred discomfort - always working at the horse's pace.
It is essential to respect the horse's threshold, working at a pace they can manage and only to the next level of resistance within the muscles, even if that is at surface skin level, and above all.....remain patient.
Massage therapy and bodywork sessions can benefit horses on many levels
All sessions are tailored to suit the individual horse and can be offerred as regular "MOT" maintenance sessions or as part of a structured rehabilitation and recovery programme.
